Since 1999, the SBVJF/VocalPoint has served

these schools in Santa Barbara County

The SBVJF was founded in 1998

(26 years and counting!) and started sending VocalPoint into area schools

in 1999 to perform instructive and entertaining shows.

In 2003, education programs began in earnest with more intensive workshops

and residencies.

To date, more than 40,000 students have witnessed and/or participated in vocal jazz in their schools, and over 5,000 have experienced more in-depth study via the education programs.

a shout-out from one of our awesome students!

Foothill School 5th Grade, Fall 2022

"My 5th grade students were lucky enough to participate in the Journey Through Jazz program this past school year, and I was absolutely beyond impressed by their experience.

The songs, the stories, the history, the hand gestures...this program clearly encapsulates music appreciation to the core.

My students hummed the jazz songs throughout the school day, requested to hear jazz music as background ambience during independent work, and showed genuine joy as they danced and sang their hearts out to songs they loved.

Without question, the enriching quality of this program cannot be overstated.

We are honored and grateful to have been able to participate!"
